(Germany) – Participants invited to deepen theoretical knowledge of lighting design through practical application during five-day workshop.

From the 23 – 28 April 2017, KRONACH in lights is hosting its sixth international workshop for lighting architecture in Kronach, Germany. With the registration deadline 1 April 2017, up to 34 students interested in architecture, lighting designers and designers are invited to deepen their theoretical knowledge through practical application.

Under the leadership of experienced lighting planners like Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Römhild from the University of Wismar; Sabine de Schutter, a lighting designer from Berlin; Dr. Ashraf Nessim, Ain Shams University Kairo; Andrea Mantello from ACT Lighting Design in Belgium; and Michael Bamberger, a lighting designer from Ingenieure Bamberger in Eichstädt – five areas are going to be illuminated in the historical old town of Kronach. The installations will be seen by up to 100,000 people during the ten-day event.

The workshops last for five days, with participants divided into groups and each group responsible for one area. In the first two days a concept will be created and then implemented in the last three days.

The workshop week will be divided into a theoretical and a craft part. In the morning, there will be presentations, time for planning and design sessions. In the afternoon until late at night, the participants will gain a lot of hands-on experience by building and testing settings in the streets of Kronach.

The workshop fee is €300 for students, others €600, which includes hospitality, breakfast and lunch. There is an early bird discount for students that register before 1 March 2017 and then it’s only €260.
